i have a major problem with people who don't give a damn about security (i mean how hard is it to follow the security proceeds?) or young kids who think nation service is a waste of time.
its been 8 years since the terrorist attack.
and the history channel was showing a documentary - '102 minutes that changed American'.
if you haven't watch it, i happened to find a link here:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2947888180526230130#the documentary shows different news report and over hundreds of amateur videos which was taken by people who happened to be around the area.
files and papers were flying and all over the place when the plane crashed into the first tower...
i can remember scenes like firemen rushing into nearby buildings when the first tower collapse.
some were in such state of shock they couldn't react.
and the first thing they did were to borrow civilian's cellphones to call back to their family.
there were people who were covered in dust who managed to come out of the tower in time... carrying their office and laptop bags, asking where their colleagues are,
and police officers who got choked badly by the dust and debris that they're having difficulty in breathing.
a kid woke up and stared outside the window, asking her parents why the two towers are gone.
and that was this guy telling a passerby how damn lucky he was as he was late for work because he was watching american football the night before.
you can see people who were at the other side of the island...
staring in blank as they felt so damn helpless.
its so heartbreaking i nearly cried.
if you think its crap or rather watch MTV. think again.
this is a fucking reminder to people who take security in singapore for granted
and to those ignorance kids stop complaining about nation service! like come on, its only 2 years... don't be a loser.
remember you don't want this to happen. again.
if you didn't watch the video, here's something to remind you.
peace to the world.
Never touch the brake, accelerate,

didn't update for so long cause i was away for reservist
and busy with work!
but still, happy!
now... 2 watches for this week!
it's a rare bird and a German!
first up,
a rare 1970s vintage Seiko 7015 - 6010 'Timesonar'
here are the pictures... (warning! modem burner! hahaha...)
took only a day to arrive! the seller only shipping method was Fedex... shipping was quite ex.. but fast lah...
all the way from Philippines...
what a beauty!
how about another take with a nicer background... okay lah... not that nice also...
how about a close up this time? simple love that retro see through dial! my this is also my first watch with a Kanji wheel. very interesting stuff... Japanese days of the week are sometimes abbreviated to the single Kanji character, but are formally written as 3 characters, the first Kanji indicating the particular day and the next two Kanji (曜日 yōbi) for "day". So example if today is Friday, shortname 金 and fullname 金曜日.
a picture of the black see through back-case. sorry for the blur picture... its actually quite hard to take it.. plus i'm not a professional photographer... haha.
last picture with my starwalker... damn isn't it sweet!lastly, my last watch of this year... (really!)
got it last week from a local seller.
German body with a heart of Swiss.
Here are the specs:
. Swiss ETA 2824-2 Automatic movement
. 28,800 Vibrations per second
. 25 Jewels
. Movement shock-resistant
. Anti-magnetic
. Black dial with markers inlaid with white luminous paint (LumiNova)
. Red hour and minute hands inlaid with white luminois paint (LumiNova)
. Diver's rotating bezel with luminous triangle
. Non-removeable diver's rotating bezel hardened to 1,500HV
. 44mm diameter case in Submarine Steel
. Pressure-proof to 100BAR (1000m)
. Screwed-in crown (submarine steel) with 3 caskets in series
it's a Sinn U1!!! which was in the top of my list for soooooo long.
frankly i wasn't impress when i saw the pictures on the net.
till i saw my friend's piece... (his was the tempus edition btw)
i was... blown away.....
it was a really solid piece... that's all i have to say...
its chunky and by just looking at the pictures wouldn't justify.. you got to feel the real one.
OK... enough talk. let's get on to the pictures.
the presentation box... i have soft spots for silver letterings.. HA.
box within the box... for some reason the Sinn word never escape my sight. lol
TA DA! the beast together with the cd rom, paper and watch strap tool.
still so cool no matter which angle you look at it.... i think the hour, minute and second hands are unique...
told you the word sinn never escape my sight... haha. btw, Sinn is the german word for Sense. make sense!
removed the rubber strap to change to another one...
well, that a lot of reason that led me to Sinn! haha.. anyway changed to a carbon style leather strap... looks more dressy for now.
wrist shot! very heavy on my wrist...
i kinda like this picture... but too bad its quite blur.. but still.. nice! haha.
and my collection thus far... international Rojak - Japan, China, Russian and a 1/2 German 1/2 Swiss.and with Sinn.. it kinda complete my collection for this year.
Getting a Sinn is like killing 2 bird with 1 stone. (LOL)
this will be my last watch for this year. (i swear!)
so in the meantime, i'll start saving for a ultimate Swiss which i believe all man should have one..
a rollie...
ah.... how long will that take?
Never touch the brake, accelerate,
cause you're out of control.
Rock and roll.

How long before you decide or before I know what it feels like.

a post before i go and defend the nation tomorrow for one week!
(oh, i couldn't wait.. reservist beats combating emails in the office...)
well, 2 hoots for this week.
warning, modem burner...
finally a 'new' vintage Seiko chronograph watch.
1977 Feb, Seiko 6139 - 7100 'Helmet' aka 'Darth Vader Helmet' for this one.
pictures will do the talking...
here it is... comes with a aftermarket original Seiko bracelet, rightfully the original bracelet for the helmet should be a fishbone bracelet which is very very rare and expensive.
this is a picture of the fishbone bracelet taken from ebay. now you know why is it called 'fishbone'. this one can cost up to at least 100sgd...
a close up of the helmet. it give me a very retro feeling and i love that contrast of the green wordings and the striking yellow hands. chrono function stop and resets to zero as it should. still working good despite begin around for 32 years.
on the case back: serial number 724899. 7 - 1977, 2 - February. also the movement and model number, 6139 - 7100.
oh yes, if you're wondering why it is called the helmet... take a look at the side of the watch, doesn't it resemble Dark Vader's helmet?
Luke... I'm your father... Noooooo.....next up... a china watch. (don't give me that look!)
its a Seagull M199s Moon phrase chronograph.
Case: Stainless Steel
Movement: Sea-Gull 22 Jewels Hand-Winding Movement
Diameter: 41mm
Band: Genuine Leather
Crystal: Sapphire (front and back)
Dial: Ivory
Water Resistance: 50m
Function: Chronograph, Date at 12 o'clock, Moon phase at 6'o clock
you know i have to get a dress watch in my collection.. this is an absolutely stunning piece! i read a review
HERE and i just simply pulled... the trigger...
seagull use such good stuff to make this watch, its almost unbelievable. maybe 'cheaper' good stuff? ah, heck lah. this watch does have a good finishing! take a look at the pictures and you will know why!
it seems like my collection is so 'unfocused'. its like 'international rojak'.
russia, japan, china. what i lack now is a german and swiss. which i'll be getting soon... but i'm not going to tell you the brand and i shall keep you in suspense. HAHA.
but i guess its time i should concentrate on my 'firepower' and aim at the right point...
pictures!
the presentation box.
somehow, the seagull logo just reminds me of Mazada logo... i kinda like that silver letterings on the box
opening it up... the little blue manual book (all in chinese), and of cause the amazing watch!
how about a close up shot? i know my pictures here doesn't give this watch justice... it a stunning piece, you got to see it in real. check out the ivory dial.. and the roman letterings. The stars and moon on the rotating disc are very elegant and very very classy. oh, if you don't know what that moon is for - its actually called the moon phrase function. if set correctly it will tell you the right shape of the moon. cool huh?
ok... this was took with my hand phone which again did not give this watch justice. The back crystal is also sapphire as well and is extremely clear. The movement is so nicely decorated. They used blue tinted screw.. very nice combination. the movement is so mesmerizing, you can stare at it the whole day. and surprisingly... there's a column wheel to this movement.
the deployment bucket is very well made and easily to adjust. and with a logo on it as well... i got to say seagull is very good at this small details.
you got to love that onion crown and the T pushers. the layout of the sub dials are also very nicely placed. awwww... isn't it such a beauty?overall, i would rate this seagull 9/10. if you're thinking of getting a swiss but can't afford one... why not try seagull? you wouldn't regret getting this one...
it can definitely be on par to any basic/mid swiss movement out there. (with chrono functions)
for the price i have paid, i would say this is very value for money.
anyway for the official website:
USSEAGULLfree shipping too!
now, did someone mentioned
China?
